A World Free of Eating Problems and Full of Health
That is my dream. When I was first diagnosed with anorexia nervosa at the age of 16, I had no idea that this life changing mental illness would bring me to where I am today. My recovery caused me to gain in more ways than a number on a scale could ever quantify. Today I am a nominated Leading Light of the New River Valley because of my commitment to bring awareness of the importance of a healthy body and mind to the communities of Blacksburg and Virginia Tech.
Making Strides Towards Healthy Lives is new to our Hokie community and is still earning its walking legs, but my dream is that this walk myself and several other students have helped to put in place will continue to grow and evolve. Every person we reach, is a person that can help to promote a healthy lifestyle in today's society and help to stop eating disorders in their tracks.

Below is a slideshow presentation of Making Strides Towards Healthy Lives first Run/Walk in 2012. I am proud to be the event's second coordinator and thrilled with the growth and and interest we have gained from the community in the past two years!
